To my fellow outlaws, outcasts and misfits,
I first met Paul Elia in 2011. He was a stand in on Detroit 187, which we we shot in Detroit.
As you are about to hear, he came from a very tight knit, proud family and community in Detroit. When the show got cancelled, Paul risked it all and moved to Los Angeles with the dream of being actor and doing stand up comedy.
When we recorded this podcast in 2014, Paul was so poor, he was living on one protein bar a day - literally.
But he would not let anybody or anything stop him. Since then Paul has risen through the ranks and is now touring the world with his friend and fellow comedian Matt Rife.
Last month, Paul recorded his first special “Detroit Player” at the House of Comedy in Detroit - returning home - to make a dream come true.
This podcast very much tracks not only his origin story, but the origin of a dream and everything that goes into making it come true.
I look forward to having him back to hear about what else he is up to.
Until then, I proudly present - Paul Elia.
